Rock legend Gene Simmons, co-founder and bassist of KISS, was hospitalized following a car crash in Malibu, California. The news has raised concern among fans, though early reports indicate the 76-year-old musician is recovering and in good condition.

What Happened to Gene Simmons Prior to the Crash

The accident occurred on October 7, 2025, along the Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu. Witnesses said Simmons’ SUV veered across multiple lanes before striking a parked vehicle. Authorities believe Simmons may have experienced a medical episode behind the wheel, possibly fainting or briefly losing consciousness prior to impact.

Emergency services transported him to a nearby hospital for observation. He was later released after receiving precautionary medical evaluation.

Gene Simmons’ Condition and Public Response

Simmons later addressed fans through social media, reassuring everyone that he was fine. “Thanks, everybody, for the kind wishes. I’m completely fine. I had a slight fender bender. It happens,” he wrote.

His wife, Shannon Tweed, shared that dehydration and recent medication adjustments may have contributed to the incident. She confirmed that Simmons is recovering comfortably at home and has already resumed light work duties.

A spokesperson for the KISS co-founder said the accident appeared minor and that no one else was injured.

Context and Upcoming Events

The crash comes just weeks before Simmons was expected to make a public appearance in Las Vegas as part of a special KISS-related event. Though the band officially retired from touring in 2023, Simmons has remained active in music and business ventures.

Fans have flooded social media with messages of support, expressing relief that the iconic bassist escaped serious injury.
