Tori Amos has released a surprise album, Tori and the Muses, which is now streaming on various platforms. This release coincides with the debut of her children's book, also titled Tori and the Muses. Both the book and its companion soundtrack reveal a different artistic side of Amos, blending her musical prowess with storytelling suited for younger audiences. The soundtrack is composed of nine tracks and marks a slight departure from Amos' typical style, showcasing her versatility as both an author and a musician. Instead of producing a full-length record, Amos has crafted these musical pieces to resonate with her new book's narrative, in which a young Tori interacts with mystical Muses that inspire her creative journey. This imaginative concept, coupled with whimsical art by illustrator Demelsa Haughton, is bound to charm both children and adults alike.

The album itself is a collaborative effort, featuring contributions from some of Amos' long-term musical partners, including Mark Hawley, Jon Evans, Matt Chamberlain, Ash Soan, and John Philip Shenale. These seasoned musicians have imbued the music with a rich, layered sound that complements the enchanting themes of the book. Although concise at just over half an hour, fans have remarked that it delivers a surprising level of depth and quality. Enthusiasts are speculating that this brief album might be a prelude to a more extensive release later on. However, as of now, there are no official announcements of any physical copies, which makes its sudden drop on streaming services an exclusive and exciting surprise.

Amos' promotional plans for “Tori and the Muses” include a book tour that kicks off shortly in New York City and continues across various locations in the United States, including Baltimore, Naperville, Corte Madera, and Los Angeles. These events will provide an interactive platform for audiences to engage with both the literary and musical dimensions of her new project. Published by Penguin Workshop, the book is slated for official release on March 4, but eager readers and listeners can already delve into the world of tiny Tori and her muses through the album. This project not only broadens her artistic scope but also marks her debut in the realm of children's literature—a venture that reflects her versatility and creative spirit.
