Ringo Starr AnnouncesHis Second Country Album With T Bone Burnett, Drops Lead Single “It’s Been Too Long”

Ringo Starr is heading further down the country road. The former Beatle announced today that his new album, Long Long Road, will arrive on April 24 via Universal Music. Produced and co-written by T Bone Burnett — with additional production from Daniel Tashian and Bruce Sugar — the 10-song collection is the follow-up to 2025's Look Up, which topped the Country and Americana charts in the U.K.

Alongside the album announcement, Starr released the lead single “It's Been Too Long,” featuring vocal contributions from Molly Tuttle and Sarah Jarosz. The track carries a message that works as both a love song and a plea for connection: “It's been too long since we've listened to one another,” Starr sings. “It's been too long since we dreamed mighty dreams / It's been too long since we've floated downstream / Together, together.”

The Starr-Burnett partnership began with a chance encounter in 2022, when Starr asked Burnett to write a song for an EP. Burnett returned with nine country-themed compositions, setting the stage for Look Up — Starr's first country record in more than 50 years. That album featured collaborations with Alison Krauss, Billy Strings, Larkin Poe, Lucius, and Molly Tuttle.

Long Long Road continues the creative thread. Burnett wrote or co-wrote six of the album's ten tracks, while Starr and Sugar contributed two songs, and the tracklist includes a cover of Carl Perkins' “I Don't See Me in Your Eyes Anymore” — a deep cut that connects Starr's Beatles-era roots with his current Americana detour. The guest roster expands this time around with Billy Strings, Sheryl Crow, and St. Vincent joining the lineup.

The album was recorded in Nashville and Los Angeles with a core backing band Burnett has dubbed “The Texans” — a nod to a 1959 group Starr played with in Liverpool. The musicians include Paul Franklin, David Mansfield, Dennis Crouch, Daniel Tashian, Rory Hoffman, Patrick Warren, and Colin Linden.

“I'm blessed to have T Bone in my life right now and working with me on these records,” Starr said in a press statement. “After we did the last record, which I love listening to, this one just sort of happened. I like to say sometimes I make the right moves, like you can go left or right at any point, and one of the right moves was hooking up with T Bone for Look Up, and now for this one, which I'm calling Long Long Road, because I've been on a long long road.”

Long Long Road will be available on CD, LP, limited-edition “Ultraviolet Dream” color vinyl, and digital streaming platforms.
