It looks like the long-awaited Ozzy Osbourne biopic is finally moving out of development hell and into the spotlight. Jack Osbourne recently sat down for a chat on the SiriusXM show Influenced and dropped the news we have all been waiting for: the family has officially picked the actor who will play the heavy metal legend.

While Jack is keeping the actor's identity under wraps for now, he did not hold back on the praise. He described the mystery lead as “phenomenal” and confirmed that the project is moving at full speed. This update comes after years of rumors and false starts, marking a huge milestone for the film being produced by Sony Studios.

No, It Is Not Denzel

Jack had a good laugh with host Billy Morrison about some of the more “creative” casting ideas that have floated around over the years. Ozzy famously once said he wanted Denzel Washington to play him, a dream that Jack confirmed is sadly not coming true. He also touched on his own personal favorites from past discussions, like Barry star Bill Hader, though he would not confirm if the “phenomenal” pick was someone we have already heard mentioned in the press.

A Raw Look at the Ozzman

Do not expect a sanitized, PG-rated version of the Osbourne story. Sharon Osbourne has been very clear that she wants this movie to be “raw and real.” The film is set to focus on the intense years between 1979 and 1999, focusing heavily on the wild and often rocky love story between Ozzy and Sharon.

Jack mentioned that they currently have a director attached and are in the middle of a script rewrite to get everything just right. Before he passed away last July, Ozzy was apparently pretty relaxed about the whole thing. According to Jack, his dad’s attitude was basically “just tell me when it is out so I can go see it.”

What Happens Next?

With the lead actor locked in and the script being polished, the production is aiming to start filming in the spring of 2026. If everything stays on track, we could be seeing the Prince of Darkness on the big screen by the summer of 2027.

The industry is buzzing with theories on who the mystery actor could be, and we are expecting an official announcement from the studio very soon. For now, the Osbournes are keeping their secret, but they promise it will be worth the wait for the fans who have stayed loyal through all the chaos.
