Heart singer Ann Wilson is bringing her story to the big screen with In My Voice, an authorized feature-length documentary launching through a North American screening run this spring. The rollout marks a notable shift from the arena setting that has defined much of Wilson’s career, moving into a film-and-conversation format designed to give fans direct access to the artist behind one of rock’s most enduring catalogs.

Each event is built around a high-definition screening followed by a live Q&A featuring Wilson and filmmaker Barbara Hall, turning the release into a traveling documentary experience rather than a one-night drop. For longtime Heart fans, that setup adds context and immediacy, with Wilson discussing the material in person as the film reaches each market.

Screening dates and cities announced

The current run is framed as a 10-city North American tour, with listed stops including May 11 at The Neptune in Seattle, May 12 at the Rio Theatre in Vancouver, May 17 at City Winery Chicago, May 18 at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, May 20 at City Winery Nashville, May 27 at City Winery New York, May 29 at Bethel Woods Events Center in Bethel, New York, May 30 at The Opera House in Toronto, and June 1 at City Winery Boston.

Those venues suggest a deliberate mix of music rooms, heritage institutions, and destination spaces. That strategy gives the documentary a broader cultural lane than a standard fan-club screening and positions the run as both an artist event and a legacy moment.

Why this moment matters for Heart

Wilson’s voice has been central to Heart since the band’s 1970s rise, and her influence remains stamped across classics including “Magic Man,” “Crazy on You,” and “Barracuda.” A feature documentary built around her perspective gives the band’s history a first-person anchor, while also highlighting the personal and professional resilience required to sustain a multidecade career.

The timing is especially significant after Heart’s 2024 touring interruption related to Wilson’s preventative chemotherapy following a cancer diagnosis. In that context, In My Voice lands as more than a retrospective project. It reads as a forward-facing statement from an artist still actively shaping her narrative.

What the format signals for the music business

The screening-and-Q&A model reflects a broader shift in how legacy artists activate their audience between traditional album and touring cycles. It creates multiple points of engagement at once: ticketed event demand, renewed attention on catalog music, and fresh editorial momentum tied to a premium storytelling format.

For Wilson and Heart, the documentary run could become one of the most effective ways to bridge generations of fans, linking the band’s classic-era impact with a modern, event-driven release model that emphasizes story, access, and longevity.
