In 2025, Death Angel will celebrate the 35th anniversary of their highly regarded 1990 album, “Act III,” with a special performance at their annual Christmas concert. This one-night only event will take place on December 18 at The Fillmore in San Francisco, a significant location for the band. Performing the album in its entirety makes it a landmark occasion for fans and the band itself, as it marks the first time that all “Act III” tracks will be played together live. This distinctive concert reflects a deep dedication to their craft and a profound appreciation for their long-standing fan base.

“Act III” represented a critical turning point in Death Angel's career, moving away from the raw ferocity of albums such as “The Ultraviolence” and “Frolic Through The Park.” Produced by Max Norman, known for his work with Ozzy Osbourne on “Blizzard Of Ozz” and “Diary Of A Madman,” the album displayed a more melodic and structured approach. The members of Death Angel, while on their first major label deal with Geffen, faced various challenges, such as experimenting with pre-production for the first time and writing nearly 30 songs to meet professional standards. This intense period of development helped the band hone their skills, ultimately leading to a body of work that struck a chord with their audience.

In addition to the Christmas concert, Death Angel will be embarking on an extensive tour across North America starting in November 2025. This tour will see the band performing “Act III” in its entirety at various locations, including stops in cities like Denver, Houston, and Los Angeles. The tour will culminate in two additional shows in San Francisco, scheduled for December 18 and 19, the latter of which will mimic the exclusive concert experience of the 35th anniversary Christmas show. The tour will not only celebrate “Act III” but also feature support from bands such as Toxic Holocaust, Lions at the Gate, and Misfire.

This series of events represents more than just an anniversary — it’s a testament to Death Angel’s resilience and evolution. The band faced a significant challenge shortly after the release of “Act III” when a catastrophic bus crash resulted in the group's temporary breakup, as drummer Andy Galeon suffered severe injuries. However, Death Angel reunited and continued to gather momentum, eventually earning a Grammy nomination for the title track of their 2019 album, “Humanicide.” This sustained success underscores how the band has retained their creative energy and established a solid footprint in the metal music community.

The live concert experience planned for December will not include a livestream, prompting fans to attend the event in person. This decision emphasizes the importance of engaging with an audience directly and creating a shared, tangible experience. Tickets are available through pre-sale opportunities and general sales following that period. With “Act III” having stood the test of time, both the tour and the Christmas concert will offer fans a chance to experience the album’s impactful tracks live, with the band performing them as they were intended to be heard.

Death Angel's decision to focus extensively on “Act III” for their 35th-anniversary performances reflects not only their pride in the album but also the lasting influence it has had on their career. By revisiting this pivotal work, Death Angel honors its past while reinforcing its commitment to deliver quality live performances to its fans. It's an exciting time for both the band and their followers, offering a unique chance to celebrate the history of one of thrash metal's enduring bands.
