Johnny Mathis Reveals He Will Be Retiring from Touring at Age 89

Johnny Mathis, the esteemed Grammy-winning singer, has decided to draw the curtain on his illustrious live performance career. After more than seven decades captivating audiences worldwide with his timeless hits, Mathis announced his retirement citing age-related memory issues as a significant factor. While the decision to retire from touring is filled with deep regret, as expressed by Mathis' team, age and health concerns have become increasingly pressing. Approaching 90, Mathis is looking to bow out gracefully, with his final performance set for May 18, 2025, at the Bergen Performing Arts Center in Englewood, New Jersey.

The news came through a statement on Mathis' official Facebook page, which revealed the bittersweet decision that due to accelerated memory issues, coupled with his advanced age, Mathis would no longer continue his concert tours beyond May. Despite his memory challenges, reports indicate that Mathis's voice remains exceptional, reflecting the immense talent that had become his hallmark for generations.

His extensive catalog of hits includes timeless classics such as “Chances Are,” “Misty,” “It's Not for Me to Say,” and “Wonderful!
