Swedish metal band Sabaton has launched their highly anticipated new single, “Templars,” along with a gripping music video heralding their upcoming eleventh studio album. This release marks a new chapter for Sabaton, as it is their debut offering with their new label, Better Noise Music. The track serves as the vanguard for their forthcoming album, which has yet to be titled. “Templars” is not just a musical release but an immersive experience that combines Sabaton's legendary storytelling with powerful visual and sonic elements. The single is also set to be available in a special one-sided 12-inch vinyl, limited to 1,000 copies worldwide, expected to release on June 27.

The “Templars” video was skillfully shot at the historical fortresses of Belgrade and Smederevo in Serbia, creating a backdrop that enhances the dramatic narrative. The video tells a fictional tale about the Knights Templar's last stand against the forces of King Philip IV of France, bringing to life their resolve in protecting their sacred secrets. Sabaton, known for their historical storytelling through music, has once again crafted a narrative that enthralls metal fans with its depth. Pär Sundström, the band's bassist and manager, describes the song as an expression of Sabaton's theatrical side, aiming to not just play the music but visually tell the story on stage, providing a deeper engagement with their audience.

The preparations for the music video were intense, involving experienced reenactors to ensure authenticity in the epic battle scenes. The story culminates in a poignant sacrifice, echoing Sabaton's reputation for combining historical themes with high-energy music. The video gained a raw and energetic tone, thanks in part to the unexpected summer heat during the shoot, which added a layer of authenticity to the battle sequences. Thobbe Englund, who recently rejoined the band after an eight-year hiatus, plays the pivotal role of the last Templar standing. Despite battling a fever and wearing heavy armor, he delivered a performance filled with vigor and precision, rounding out the narrative's climactic end.

Sabaton's move to Better Noise Music is noteworthy as the label is well-regarded for its innovative strategies and creative artist development. The partnership promises a broadened reach across different markets, further expanding the band's global impact. The label’s Director of A&R, Lexie Viklund, expressed enthusiasm over this strategic alignment, aiming to boost Sabaton's presence in the United States. This recent collaboration marks a significant step for the band, enhancing their ability to take creative risks within their genre.

The band's upcoming tour, dubbed “The Legendary Tour,” is set to capture the grandeur of Sabaton's live performances, featuring unique elements like “The Legendary Orchestra,” promising something new and unexpected for their global fanbase. The tour is scheduled to cover 20 cities across Europe in later 2025, reinvigorating Sabaton's commitment to their fans through dynamic live shows.
