Stone Temple Pilots guitarist Dean DeLeo has joined forces with British vocalist Pete Shoulder in a new musical collaboration under the moniker One More Satellite. Their debut album, set to release on July 18, 2025, features a variety of songs that showcase the duo's creative synergy. Initially conceived as an instrumental project, the album evolved when Shoulder agreed to contribute vocals to a few tracks. His involvement grew quickly, resulting in him singing on eight out of the ten tracks, fundamentally shaping the album’s character.

The collaboration between DeLeo, of Stone Temple Pilots and Trip the Witch fame, and Shoulder has been described as quite smooth, achieved through a transatlantic workflow that united their distinct musical styles. Shoulder, a UK-based vocalist and lyricist, expressed his enthusiasm about working with DeLeo. He described the music as filled with beautiful, unexpected twists and turns, which inspired him to explore new creative realms. The album's first single, “Paper Over The Cracks,” is a testament to their combined talents, melding DeLeo's guitar prowess with Shoulder's evocative vocal delivery.

One More Satellite is more than just a partnership between DeLeo and Shoulder. The album features a host of guest musicians who contribute to its rich sound. Dean’s son, Rocco DeLeo, provides drums on the tracks “Drowning Out The Sun,” “Willow Mae,” and “Spit It Out,” while Stone Temple Pilots drummer Eric Kretz features on “Serenade.” Esteemed drummer Brian Tichy handles percussion for the rest of the album, showcasing his talents alongside lyrics and melodies that challenge genre boundaries. The presence of DeLeo's daughter June, providing vocals on “Your Call,” adds another layer of familial influence to the album.

The comprehensive tracklist for One More Satellite includes songs such as “Vultures,” “Long Way Down,” and “Your Call,” each showcasing the band's versatility and musical exploration. These tracks reveal an evolution in DeLeo's musical journey, where strong riffs and intricate melodies intertwine, underscored by Shoulder's compelling vocal narratives. The album is produced by Ryan Williams, a long-time collaborator with DeLeo, ensuring the mix and production capture the intended energy and emotion of the tracks.

Dean DeLeo has a storied career with Stone Temple Pilots, known for his dynamic guitar playing and influence on the grunge scene of the 90s. Alongside his brother Robert DeLeo, he helped propel the band to fame with hits that continue to resonate with audiences. DeLeo has also been involved with other musical projects, such as Talk Show and Army of Anyone, broadening his artistic horizons before venturing into this new collaboration with Shoulder. His willingness to explore and adapt underscores his commitment to evolving as an artist.

With the impending launch of One More Satellite, fans of Stone Temple Pilots and new listeners alike have the opportunity to experience Dean DeLeo's latest musical chapter. The album promises a fresh perspective, mixing rock foundations with innovative musical and lyrical ideas. This debut not only highlights DeLeo’s signature guitar work but also provides a platform for Shoulder to shine as a vocalist and creative partner. As the release date approaches, anticipation builds for the unique soundscape that One More Satellite is set to deliver.
