The Cars’ Heartbeat City Gets Luxuriously Expanded for 40th Anniversary Deluxe Edition

On October 31, 2025, Rhino Records will drop the 40th Anniversary Deluxe Edition of Heartbeat City, originally released in 1984.

This expanded version will include:

  • A remastered version of the original album.

  • Rare studio material: early mixes, demos, alternate versions, and previously unreleased tracks such as early versions of “Stranger Eyes,” “It’s Not the Night,” and “Jacki” (the track that evolved into “Heartbeat City”).

  • B-sides and remixes.

  • A live performance: a full concert from September 11, 1984 at The Summit in Houston. This live set includes hits like “You Might Think,” “Drive,” and versions of “Candy-O” and “My Best Friend’s Girl” previously unavailable on CD.

The set will be available in a 4-CD plus 1-LP format.
