The Dirty Bats: The Secret Supergroup with Bruno Mars, Slash & Duff, Chad Smith, and Eddie Vedder
If you felt a disturbance in the rock and roll force this past weekend, it’s because arguably the most chaotic and high-wattage supergroup of the decade just descended upon Port Chester, New York.
In what is already being hailed as the ultimate rock fantasy camp come to life, music legends Bruno Mars, Slash, Eddie Vedder, and Yungblud shared the stage at the historic Capitol Theatre on Thursday night. The event, a notoriously private holiday party for Todd Boehly’s Eldridge Industries, saw these icons fronting a heavy-hitting backing band dubbed The Dirty Bats.
For those who weren't on the exclusive guest list, here is the breakdown of the night that broke the internet.
The Lineup: A Who’s Who of Rock History
The core band for the evening was a supergroup in its own right. The Dirty Bats consisted of Guns N’ Roses legends Slash and Duff McKagan, Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith, and mega-producer Andrew Watt.
But it was the rotating door of guest vocalists that turned a corporate gig into a historic setlist. The night featured performances that spanned generations, from grunge anthems to classic rock staples.
Bruno Mars Channels Kurt Cobain
Perhaps the most viral moment of the night belonged to pop superstar Bruno Mars. Known for his R&B and Funk prowess, Mars took a sharp left turn into grunge, leading the band in a ferocious cover of Nirvana’s Smells Like Teen Spirit.
Clips surfacing on social media show Mars trading his dancing shoes for a gritty, high-energy vocal performance that stunned the crowd. He didn't stop there; Mars also belted out Led Zeppelin’s Whole Lotta Love, The Police’s Roxanne, and the Michael Jackson rock anthem Dirty Diana.
Eddie Vedder and Yungblud Bring the Energy
Pearl Jam’s Eddie Vedder anchored the night with the gravitas only he can provide. He led the band through Pearl Jam classics like Better Man and Corduroy, while also diving into the punk archives for a cover of the Dead Boys’ Sonic Reducer.
On the younger end of the spectrum, British rocker Yungblud kicked off the festivities with unmatched energy. He paid tribute to the godfathers of metal with a cover of Black Sabbath’s War Pigs and channeled Mick Jagger for The Rolling Stones’ Start Me Up.
A Dirty Bats Finale
The night culminated in a massive group singalong. The entire roster—including Mars, Vedder, Yungblud, and fellow guest Anthony Kiedis—crowded the stage for a raucous rendition of Chuck Berry’s Johnny B. Goode and Neil Young’s Rockin’ in the Free World.
While tickets were never sold to the public, the videos leaking from the Capitol Theatre confirm that for one night in December 2025, the biggest rock stars in the world were just a cover band having the time of their lives.
