Renowned classic rock band Foreigner is once again making headlines as they embark on their upcoming tours. However, fans will notice a significant alteration in the lineup for the Canadian and Latin American legs of the current tour. Kelly Hansen, the frontman of Foreigner since 2005, has announced his absence from these international performances. The frontman says “residency issues” have forced him to sit out the Canadian and Latin American legs of the current tour. These issues, which have not been elaborated upon, are limiting Hansen's ability to perform outside of the United States this year. This unforeseen adjustment has led Lou Gramm, Foreigner's original singer, to step into the spotlight for these high-profile concerts.

The decision for Hansen to sit out marks a pivotal moment for Foreigner, as the band's long-standing legacy is predominantly associated with the original voice of Gramm. Known for iconic hits like “Hot Blooded,” “Cold As Ice,” and “Feels Like the First Time,” Gramm's return is both a nostalgic nod and a strategic choice. Gramm, who parted ways with the band in 1990 and again in 2002, has periodically reunited with them over the years for special appearances. His participation in the Latin American tour will be joined by Luis Maldonado, a current bandmate who has been recording some of Foreigner's classics in Spanish. This collaboration is set to deliver a dynamic experience to fans, blending Gramm’s celebrated vocals with Maldonado’s contemporary flair.

Beyond the Latin American tour, the Canadian leg will also witness unique arrangements. Here, Canadian artist Geordie Brown will join the stage to perform select numbers. Brown, who has previously worked with the band in musical productions, brings a theatrical element that aligns with Foreigner's venture into musical theater through Juke Box Hero, The Musical. Scheduled for later in 2026, this musical aims to encapsulate the essence of Foreigner’s music, and Brown’s involvement preludes this cultural expansion. Hansen, while absent from these tours, remains involved with the band and is expected to continue performing in other scheduled concerts across the United States.

This period also marks a memorable time for Lou Gramm, who, despite having declared plans for retirement, finds himself back with Foreigner in a capacity that highlights his enduring connection to fans, both old and new. His contributions to music, recognized through various accolades, include the Songwriters Hall of Fame induction alongside Mick Jones, the band's original founding member. Jones, who hasn't been touring lately due to health reasons, remains a pivotal figure in the band's narrative, embodying Foreigner's resilience and enduring legacy.
