On February 2, 2025, Steven Tyler, the renowned frontman of Aerosmith, took to the stage for the first time since the band announced its retirement from touring due to Tyler’s vocal injury. The iconic performance occurred during the sixth annual “Jam For Janie” Grammy viewing party at the Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles, marking a significant moment not just for Tyler but for his fans and the music community as well. This event was particularly special as it showcased Tyler’s enduring talent and served as a fundraiser for Janie’s Fund, an initiative dear to him.

The evening was packed with nostalgia and musical highlights, as Tyler performed a six-song set that included Aerosmith staples. The artist mesmerized the audience with performances of “Dream On,” featuring Lainey Wilson, and “Walk This Way,” for which pop sensation Jessie J provided support. The show opened with a rendition of Extreme's “More Than Words,” accompanied by Extreme’s own guitarist Nuno Bettencourt, and featured Mick Fleetwood on drums. Other classics such as “Toys in the Attic” and “Sweet Emotion” were also on the setlist, serving as a testament to Tyler’s continued vocal prowess despite his injury in 2023.

The fundraiser held a dual purpose, spotlighting Tyler’s dedication to philanthropy. Proceeds from the “Jam For Janie” event were earmarked not only for Janie’s Fund, which supports girls affected by abuse, but also to the Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation and the Widows, Orphans, and Disabled Firefighters Fund. This gesture acknowledged both the local heroes who faced recent wildfires and those in need, highlighting music’s power to heal and bring communities together.

While this performance does not signal a return to touring for Aerosmith, Tyler’s return to the stage was a promising indication of his recovery progress. His ability to perform, despite earlier setbacks, serves as a beacon of hope for possible future endeavors, even as live touring remains off the cards. According to Hamilton, there might still be other opportunities for Aerosmith to collaborate in different capacities, reflecting the band’s enduring spirit against odds.

It remains to be seen what the future holds for Aerosmith and Steven Tyler. However, this event provided a rare and treasured opportunity to watch the singer reunite with his band for the first time since announcing retirement, an event that captivated fans who relish every opportunity to see Tyler and the magic that Aerosmith continues to create, even outside the realm of conventional touring.
