A recent performance by Journey at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo ended abruptly due to a dramatic turn of events. The band was in the midst of performing their classic hit, “Don't Stop Believin',” when an electrical fire ignited beneath the stage, specifically under drummer Deen Castronovo's drum riser. The fire created a perilous scenario that led to the band's early exit and the cancellation of the concert. It was reported that the fire engulfed the area for approximately four and a half songs before it was quelled. As the blaze raged on, Castronovo disclosed on social media that his kit was quite literally on fire during the performance, with all power cables melting and the stage environment becoming unsafe.

The fire occurred at NRG Stadium in Houston, where thousands of fans gathered expecting a memorable night with the iconic rock band. The plan for an evening of classic hits was thwarted when the show was halted midway through their set. This sudden stop spurred widespread confusion and concern among fans, who were informed through an announcement that an electrical malfunction had prompted the premature end to the concert. Spectators were initially unsure if this was part of an elaborate stage act, further evidenced by the audience continuing to sing the hit song well after the sound system ceased to function.

RodeoHouston, the organizers of the event, formally acknowledged the incident and took steps to address the inconvenience caused to ticket holders. In their statement, they expressed regret over the incident and assured the audience that plans for refunds or rescheduling were being evaluated. Neal Schon, Journey's lead guitarist, expressed his deep disappointment and the efforts made to rectify the situation. Though he offered to perform the next day, contractual obligations with another scheduled act made this impossible, further complicating potential make-up plans.

The narrative detailed by multiple witnesses corroborates the reports of a hazardous environment under the stage. According to those present, personnel equipped with fire extinguishers responded quickly, inspecting the area around the drums while the concert ceased. Importantly, despite the dramatic interruption and the presence of a potentially dangerous situation, there were no injuries reported, a relief for both members of the band and attendees.

In addressing their fans, Journey has acknowledged the unfortunate incident and has promised future performances to make up for the disappointment, embodying their famed resilience and dedication captured in their song's refrain of not stopping in the face of adversity. The commitment to the fans was reiterated by Castronovo, who conveyed gratitude for the safety of all involved and assured fans of Journey's imminent return. This sentiment was echoed by attendees on social media, who expressed a mixture of understanding and frustration over the disrupted event.
