Robbie Williams has made a prominent return to the music scene with his latest single “Rocket,” featuring the legendary guitarist Tony Iommi of Black Sabbath fame. The single is the first release from Williams' upcoming album “Britpop,” anticipated this fall via Columbia Records. Known for his pop-centric hits, Williams ventures into a more rock-oriented sound with “Rocket,” a track characterized by its anthemic chorus, powerful drumming, and a distinctive guitar solo by none other than Iommi. This collaboration successfully bridges the gap between Williams' pop roots and Iommi's heavy metal prowess, creating a track full of adrenaline and raw energy.

The music video for “Rocket,” directed by Charlie Lightening, captures the essence of rebellion and style. Filmed across iconic London landmarks, Robbie Williams is seen amidst a flash mob, donned in punk-inspired attire – his look includes red tartan trousers, a heavy chain necklace, and a graffiti-covered leather jacket. These visuals reflect the song's vibrant energy and edgy vibe, further accentuated by scenes filmed in Birmingham featuring Iommi, adding a touch of authenticity as it pays homage to the guitarist's hometown.

Williams' forthcoming album “Britpop” is a nod to the era during which he launched his solo career after leaving the boy band Take That. The album promises a distinctive blend of ‘Brit' and ‘pop,' celebrating the golden age of British music. Williams expresses immense pride in having worked with some of his musical heroes on this project, citing the album's rawness and heavier guitar presence compared to his previous works. He is eager for his fans to experience the upbeat and anthemic nature of this collection, which he describes as the album he always wanted to make post-Take That.

Moreover, Williams was recently honored with the PRS for Music Icon Award at The Ivors 2025, marking his exceptional contribution to songwriting. This accolade adds to his collection of Ivor Novello Awards, recognizing his status as one of Britain's most pivotal songwriters with 15 UK Number 1 albums and numerous chart-topping singles. Reflecting his commitment to providing stellar live performances, Williams' “Britpop” tour will unfold across the UK and Europe, offering fans the debut live performance of “Rocket” and other new tracks from the album.

Tony Iommi's collaboration with Williams on “Rocket” is a testament to his enduring influence in the music world. Despite Black Sabbath's final concert looming, billed as “Back To The Beginning” in Birmingham with notable acts like Metallica and Slayer, Iommi continues to explore new musical territories. Following his successful battle with lymphoma, Iommi remains an active figure in music, contributing to tracks like “Deified” linked to his cologne brand and a guest appearance on Ozzy Osbourne’s “Patient No. 9.” His work with Williams highlights his versatile artistry and adaptability, bridging genres and maintaining his signature sound.

This collaboration not only showcases the unique synergy between pop and rock icons but also serves as a promising precursor to the forthcoming album, setting the tone for what fans can expect from Robbie Williams' musical journey in “Britpop.” The combination of Williams' distinctive pop flair and Iommi's legendary rock influence embodies a celebration of musical innovation and genre-blending that continues to define and enrich the contemporary music landscape.
