David Lee Roth, iconic frontman of Van Halen, is set to make his highly anticipated return to the live music scene after more than five years. These concerts mark his first time playing live since 2020. Roth is scheduled to headline at the M3 Rock Festival, taking place from May 2-4, 2025 at the Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, Maryland. This event is a pivotal comeback for Roth, who last performed live in March 2020 as the opening act for KISS on their End of the Road World Tour.

The Mountain Winery in Saratoga, California will also see Roth take the stage as part of its 2025 Summer Concert Series. Scheduled for September 12, this performance is a part of the venue's lineup that traditionally includes a diverse array of artists appealing to fans across different generations. These series not only boast an impressive list of performers but provide a unique experience, with music and culinary delights set against a stunning backdrop. Known for hosting legendary artists since 1958, the winery has built a reputation for memorable performances, now including Roth's much-anticipated return.

Roth's announcement to end his retirement and return to live performances has been met with enthusiasm by his fans, who have been waiting eagerly since his retirement announcement in 2021. Roth had initially planned to conclude his career with a Las Vegas residency that was cut short due to unforeseen circumstances related to the COVID-19 pandemic. His retirement, however, seems to be on hold as he prepares to engage audiences with his vibrant stage presence, reminiscent of his dynamic performances with Van Halen.

These appearances will also feature Roth surrounded by fellow rock veterans. The M3 Rock Festival will not only spotlight Roth but also reunite Stephen Pearcy and Warren DeMartini, former members of RATT, for a classic rock assembly. The festival is a convergence of former chart-toppers, featuring other big names such as Sebastian Bach and Ace Frehley, promising a weekend steeped in the heavy metal and hard rock traditions.

Additionally, Roth has been active in the studio, recording solo versions of Van Halen's classic hits, showcasing his continued passion and dedication to his musical roots. Songs like “Jump” and “Panama” have been reimagined with a fresh perspective, capturing both nostalgia and innovation. His recent work includes the December release “Forgiveness,” a blues-inspired track that underlines his evolving artistry.

The excitement surrounding Roth's return is not limited to his live performances. His upcoming box set, featuring his earliest solo albums, is set to be released soon, drawing renewed interest towards his solo career. These albums, ranging from Eat ’Em and Smile to Your Filthy Little Mouth, showcase the breadth of Roth's musical legacy beyond Van Halen, providing a comprehensive look at his artistic evolution.
