Dean DeLeo, best known as the guitarist of Stone Temple Pilots, is once again drawing attention for his musical prowess, but this time as part of a new project called One More Satellite, in collaboration with vocalist and lyricist Pete Shoulder. The partnership between DeLeo and Shoulder has resulted in an album that promises to captivate rock music enthusiasts with its diverse soundscapes. The album, set to be released on July 18, 2025, via Symphonic, showcases a collection of ten tracks that seamlessly weave instrumental mastery with evocative vocals.

The project’s second single, “Can of Worms,” dropped alongside an official music video, giving a taste of the dynamic range and intricate compositions present in One More Satellite’s debut. What began as an instrumental venture for DeLeo transformed into a full-fledged vocal album as Pete Shoulder contributed vocals to eight of the ten tracks. This collaboration marks an exciting chapter in DeLeo’s career, expanding his musical repertoire beyond Stone Temple Pilots and previous bands like Talk Show and Army of Anyone.

One More Satellite reveals an exploration of new musical territories while maintaining DeLeo’s signature rock influence. His collaboration with Shoulder is not entirely new, as the two have previously worked together on songwriting projects, including contributions to the album “Lessons Learned” by Dean’s brother and Stone Temple Pilots bassist, Robert DeLeo. The transatlantic partnership between the U.S.-based DeLeo and U.K.-based Shoulder has proven both productive and harmonious, with both artists expressing excitement for the project and pride in their creation.

The album “One More Satellite” features a variety of prominent drummers, including Dean DeLeo’s son, Rocco, who lends his drumming skills to tracks such as “Drowning Out The Sun,” “Willow Mae,” and “Spit It Out.” Additionally, Stone Temple Pilots drummer Eric Kretz and renowned drummer Brian Tichy appear on other tracks, contributing their rhythmic expertise to tracks like “Serenade.” Dean DeLeo’s daughter, June, also makes a vocal appearance on “Your Call,” adding a familial touch to this multifaceted project. The album was co-produced and mixed by Ryan Williams, ensuring a polished and compelling final product.

For those eager to acquire the debut album, it will be available in digital, CD, and vinyl formats, catering to various preferences among music consumers. Accompanying the album’s release, fans can also explore additional merchandise, including posters and t-shirts, further enhancing the immersive experience of engaging with One More Satellite. The album’s track listing promises a journey through the inventive and often unexpected musical twists and turns, including titles such as “Paper Over The Cracks,” “Vultures,” and “Long Way Down.”

Dean DeLeo’s venture into One More Satellite highlights both his versatility as a musician and his willingness to take artistic risks, pushing the boundaries of his established repertoire. By infusing new and collaborative creativity into each track, DeLeo and Shoulder have crafted an album that stands as a testament to their shared musical vision and passion. This project reflects the ongoing evolution of Dean DeLeo’s musical career, adding yet another exciting chapter to his storied involvement in the rock genre, from dominating the scene with Stone Temple Pilots to embarking on fresh, innovative collaborations with One More Satellite.
