Pink Floyd has officially announced Wish You Were Here 50, a 50th-anniversary edition arriving December 12, 2025 via Sony Music. It spans 3LP, 2CD, Blu-ray, digital, plus a Deluxe Box Set. The digital edition includes a brand-new Dolby Atmos mix by James Guthrie, longtime Pink Floyd engineer and mixer.

What’s new in this edition

At the heart of the anniversary set are six previously unreleased alternates and demos, part of nine studio rarities, alongside 16 live recordings from the band’s April 26, 1975 Los Angeles Sports Arena show—captured by renowned taper Mike Millard and restored/remastered by Steven Wilson for their first official release. The Blu-ray adds three 1975 tour screen films and a Storm Thorgerson short film.

Newly surfaced studio highlights

  • “The Machine Song (Demo #2, Revisited)” — an early/alternate form of “Welcome to the Machine,” issued with the announcement.

  • “The Machine Song (Roger’s Demo)” — Waters’ original home demo.

  • “Wish You Were Here (Pedal Steel Instrumental Mix)” — spotlights Gilmour’s pedal steel textures.

  • “Shine On You Crazy Diamond (Pts. 1–9) – New Stereo Mix” — a complete joined version, newly mixed by James Guthrie.

Why this reissue matters (for fans and collectors)

  • It’s the first official release of the legendary Mike Millard 1975 LA tapes, now professionally restored—a major archival upgrade over bootlegs.

  • The new Atmos mix offers a modern immersive take while preserving the album’s analog character, handled by James Guthrie.

  • The package deepens the creative story behind Wish You Were Here, with Hipgnosis/Storm Thorgerson visuals represented in films and essays—plus a newly shared demo that lets listeners hear the song’s evolution.
