In a remarkable celebration of their pioneering contributions to alternative rock, The Smashing Pumpkins are unveiling an expansive reissue of their concept albums “Machina/The Machines of God” and “Machina II/The Friends & Enemies of Modern Music” in honor of their 25th anniversary. This ambitious project, led by the band's frontman Billy Corgan, aims to reestablish the sonic sentiments initially intended for the albums when they first embarked on this journey. The reissue represents the first time both albums will be offered as a cohesive collection, combining 48 tracks from “Machina” with 32 bonus tracks consisting of demos, live recordings, and outtakes.

Central to this release is the special 80-song vinyl box set that will be available exclusively at Billy Corgan's own Madame Zuzu's Tea Shop in Highland Park, Illinois. This box set is expected to become a collector's item, as it will contain the complete bundle of the Machina project, unavailable in its entirety in any other format. Fans eager to revisit the band's iconic sound will have only MadameZuzus.com to turn to for the full vinyl experience, which is already open for pre-orders.

Alongside this, the reissue will see various black and colored vinyl editions, as well as CD and digital formats available, all remastered to honor the band's creative vision. The black 180g 2LP version, a limited-edition corona red/black swirl version, and other formats further enrich this milestone release. Fans of the band's earlier releases will see the Machina reissue as a nostalgic journey back to 2000 when the albums marked the last recordings of The Smashing Pumpkins' classic lineup, including Corgan, James Iha, Jimmy Chamberlin, and former bassist D'Arcy Wretzky.

Billy Corgan articulated that this monumental release signifies a musical victory, noting the resilience and creative passion that fueled the project. According to him, “It's taken some 25 years to finally release ‘Machina' as we in the band had hoped it would be,” capturing an era of substantial artistic ambition but also internal challenges within the group.

The Smashing Pumpkins' influence on music and culture remains a significant chapter in rock history. Formed in Chicago in 1988, they had previously released a series of acclaimed albums, notably the diamond-certified “Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness” and quadruple-platinum “Siamese Dream,” both noted by Rolling Stone amongst the greatest albums of all time. Their visual and cultural iconography, too, continues to echo, with distinct album artwork and emblematic imagery like the band’s Zero logo shirt becoming effortlessly entwined with the aesthetic of alternative rock.

As the band prepares for their 2025 global tour, they are planning performances that promise to rekindle the dynamic live-show atmosphere they have been known for through decades of stage presence. Starting July 27 in Plovdiv, Bulgaria, the tour is highly anticipated among fans and confirms their enduring legacy in the music scene.

Complementing this extensive release is Corgan's solo tour with “The Machines of God,” where he has been performing tracks not only from the Machina albums but also from other notable phases of The Smashing Pumpkins' history, including songs from the seminal “Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness.” This solo project showcases Corgan's versatility and dedication to bring to life various eras of his musical journey through live renditions.

The 25th-anniversary celebration of “Machina/The Machines of God” and “Machina II/The Friends & Enemies of Modern Music” presents a formidable exploration back to the band's creative heart, underscoring The Smashing Pumpkins' enduring relevance in the music industry. As fans indulge in this newly touched-up extensive collection, it stands as a testament to the unique allure that The Smashing Pumpkins have held in reshaping the soundscape of rock music.
