Following weeks of speculation and explosive headlines, Bret Michaels has officially broken his silence regarding the collapse of Poison’s 2026 40th-anniversary tour. In a series of new statements, the frontman flatly denied claims that his “excessive” financial demands were the reason the tour was shelved, instead pointing to scheduling conflicts and a shift in the band’s timeline.

The Controversy: A “$6 to $1” Pay Gap?

The drama ignited in mid-January 2026 when Poison drummer Rikki Rockett gave a candid interview to Page Six. Rockett alleged that while he, guitarist C.C. DeVille, and bassist Bobby Dall were “all in” for a 2026 trek, the plans fell apart at the negotiation table.

According to Rockett, the sticking point was a massive disparity in pay. “He wanted the lion’s share of the money, to the point where it makes it not possible to even do it,” Rockett claimed. “It’s like $6 to every one of our dollars. You just can’t work that way.”

The report sent shockwaves through the rock community, with many fans fearing that “insane greed” had finally ended the original lineup’s 40-year run.

Michaels Fires Back: “It Never Happened”

Speaking with 99.1 WPLR’s Chaz & AJ in the Morning on January 29, 2026, Michaels addressed the rumors directly. He characterized the reports of a financial stalemate as factually incorrect.

“I’m gonna answer that honestly: It never happened,” Michaels stated. “We never even got to that part of negotiations. When you start this, you put together solo numbers and an average… but as this thing got further down the road, the solo shows for ’26 were already booking up.”

Michaels explained that the decision to move the tour to 2027—which he is now calling the “40 Plus One” tour—was actually made “back last summer” due to logistical backups. He emphasized that the four founding members remain friends and urged his bandmates to “call me on the phone” rather than negotiating through the media.

The Path Forward: Poison in 2027

While 2026 will not see the “Look What the Cat Dragged In” 40th-anniversary celebration as originally hoped, the door is far from closed. Michaels remains optimistic about a reunion in 2027, noting that “good things happen in fours” for the band.

Poison 2026/2027 Tour Status at a Glance:

  • 2026 Status: Officially shelved/postponed.

  • New Proposed Date: Summer 2027 (“40 Plus One” Tour).

  • Confirmed Lineup: Michaels intends for all four original members to return.

  • Current Activity: Bret Michaels is continuing his “Live & Amplified” solo tour through 2026, while Rikki Rockett is performing with his side project, Rockett Mafia.

Despite the public back-and-forth, Michaels concluded his response with a message of unity: “I love Rikki. I love Bobby. I love C.C. We’ve worked it out for 40 other years. Let’s work out what we need to work out.”
