Dave Grohl has confirmed that the next Foo Fighters studio album is officially finished, giving fans their clearest signal yet that new music is on the way.

Grohl shared the news during a recent live appearance in Australia, casually revealing from the stage that the band had just completed a full new record. The announcement came near the end of the set, delivered with Grohl’s trademark mix of humor and understatement, but it quickly became one of the most talked-about moments of the tour.

“We might have a whole new record of songs that we just finished the other day,” Grohl told the crowd, confirming that the band’s follow-up to 2023’s But Here We Are is complete.

No Details Yet, But Momentum Is Clear

While Grohl did not share a release date, album title, or track information, his comments strongly suggest the band is moving quickly toward its next phase. He also hinted that Foo Fighters plan to return to Australia sooner than expected, fueling speculation that a new album cycle and expanded touring plans could arrive later this year or in early 2026.

Grohl’s remarks mark the first direct confirmation from the band that an entire album has been finished, rather than simply written or recorded in stages.

The First Album Since But Here We Are

The upcoming release will be Foo Fighters’ first full-length album since But Here We Are, which was widely praised for its emotional weight and urgency following the death of longtime drummer Taylor Hawkins. That album was seen as both a tribute and a turning point, helping reestablish the band’s creative footing.

Since then, Foo Fighters have steadily returned to the road and released new standalone material, building anticipation that another larger project was underway.

Fans Now Waiting for the Next Reveal

As is typical with Foo Fighters announcements, Grohl offered no marketing timeline and no formal rollout details. Still, the fact that the album is finished suggests that an official announcement, lead single, or release window may not be far off.

For now, fans will have to wait, but the message from Grohl was unmistakable. The next Foo Fighters era is ready, and it is only a matter of time before the band lets it loose.
