John Paul Jones, the bassist and multi-instrumentalist best known for his work with Led Zeppelin, is auctioning off a substantial collection of personal studio equipment, giving fans and collectors rare access to gear used throughout his long and influential career.

The online auction is being organized by Soundgas, a United Kingdom based company that specializes in vintage and professional recording equipment. According to the auction organizer, Jones decided to part with the equipment because it is no longer in regular use and he prefers that the gear be returned to active creative environments rather than stored. Many of the items were purchased new by Jones and maintained as part of his personal studio setup.
