Rush Adds Touring Keyboardist Loren Gold

Rush have confirmed that veteran keyboardist Loren Gold will join the band on their upcoming live dates. At the same time, the group has officially announced a full slate of international tour dates for 2027, expanding their ongoing Fifty Something tour.

Gold, best known for his long-running work with The Who and Chicago, has been brought in to handle keyboard and synthesizer duties that were historically performed by bassist and vocalist Geddy Lee. The addition allows the band to more fully reproduce the layered arrangements that define much of Rush’s catalog while reducing the physical demands of performing multiple roles simultaneously.

Rush’s music from the late 1970s through the 1980s relies heavily on synthesizers, sequencers, and keyboard textures. In the past, many of those parts were triggered live while Lee handled bass and lead vocals. A dedicated touring keyboardist allows those elements to be performed live in a more traditional and flexible way.

Guitarist Alex Lifeson and Lee have both spoken publicly about rethinking how Rush’s music can be presented onstage following the death of drummer Neil Peart in 2020. Rather than attempting to replicate the classic three-piece lineup exactly, the band has chosen to evolve while maintaining respect for Peart’s legacy and the integrity of the music.

Alongside the lineup announcement, Rush confirmed 24 tour dates scheduled across South America, the United Kingdom, and Europe in early 2027. These shows follow a North American tour leg running through 2026 and mark the band’s first European and South American performances in several years.

Tickets for the 2027 dates are scheduled to go on sale later this month, following a series of fan club and venue pre-sales. The shows are expected to feature two-set performances drawing from across Rush’s five-decade catalog, with an emphasis on musical precision and deep cuts alongside well-known material.
