Bruce Springsteen made a surprise appearance with Bon Jovi during the second encore of the band’s ninth and final Madison Square Garden residency show on July 26, 2026. Springsteen joined Jon Bon Jovi for two songs, “Who Says You Can’t Go Home” and “The Promised Land,” closing out the band’s run at the New York City arena.

The cameo came just three days after Jon Bon Jovi had cut a previous MSG performance short due to a sinus infection, leaving some fans uncertain about the health of his surgically repaired vocal cords.

  • Jon Bon Jovi introduced Springsteen as “the king of the great state of New Jersey.”
  • The July 23 show was cut short after about 14 songs and roughly 90 minutes.
  • The July 26 show ran a full 19 songs, including the live debut of “The People’s House.”
  • Bon Jovi’s nine-show MSG residency was the band’s first extended run since Jon Bon Jovi’s 2022 vocal cord surgery.
  • Five more Forever Tour dates in the UK and Ireland are scheduled for late August and September 2026.

What Jon Bon Jovi Said Before Bringing Out Bruce Springsteen

Introducing his fellow New Jersey native, Jon Bon Jovi told the crowd: “For 50 years he has been a beacon of light and truth. Will you please welcome my friend, my brother, and the poet laureate or our series of rock & roll. Ladies and gentlemen, the one and only Bruce Springsteen. The king of the great state of New Jersey.”

Springsteen and Bon Jovi then traded vocals on Bon Jovi’s 2005 single “Who Says You Can’t Go Home,” from the album “Have a Nice Day,” before closing the night with a cover of Springsteen’s 1978 song “The Promised Land.”

Jon Bon Jovi Cut a Previous MSG Show Short Due to Illness

Three days before the Springsteen appearance, on July 23, 2026, Jon Bon Jovi ended a Madison Square Garden concert early after about 90 minutes and roughly 14 songs. He told the crowd, “I know I’m letting you down and it’s not like me to do that,” adding, “We might have to cool it because I’m f***ing hurting.”

Jon Bon Jovi asked fans not to throw away their ticket stubs, saying he would “figure something out” and reschedule the show. As of the reports, no makeup date has been announced.

Jon Bon Jovi’s Recovery From Vocal Cord Surgery

Jon Bon Jovi, 64, told People in June 2026 that he was “fully recovered” from the 2022 vocal cord surgery, saying, “It was longer than I’d ever expected, but it had to be right. We never lost faith.”

A representative for Bon Jovi told Page Six that the singer had said “it has been a joy to return to live shows for the band,” and that his vocal cords had previously “literally atrophied,” with one described as “thick as a thumb” and the other as “thick as a pinky.”
