Bryan Adams Brings Out Pat Benatar and Neil Giraldo for Surprise Stevie Wonder Cover in Detroit
Bryan Adams performed at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit on Saturday, August 15, 2026, and used the show to bring Pat Benatar and Neil Giraldo onstage with him for the first time on the current tour. The trio, joined by Adams’ band, delivered a surprise cover of Stevie Wonder’s “Superstition.”
Adams told the crowd he’d had “the pleasure” of Benatar and Giraldo supporting him on tour since last October but had “never had them on stage, before tonight.” He explained his decision to invite the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame duo up by telling the audience, “this is Motown city.”
Adams and Benatar shared lead vocals on “Superstition,” while Giraldo and Adams’ guitarist Keith Scott traded guitar licks. Afterward, Adams told the crowd, “Thanks everybody. That was awesome.”
Why “Superstition” Was a Fitting Choice for the Detroit Show
Stevie Wonder released “Superstition” in 1972, and it became his first No. 1 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 in more than nine years. The song won two Grammy Awards, for best rhythm & blues song and best R&B vocal performance, male, and was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 1998.
What’s Next for Bryan Adams, Pat Benatar and Neil Giraldo
The Detroit concert was the penultimate date of Adams and Benatar/Giraldo’s current tour together, which is scheduled to wrap up the following night, Sunday, August 16, 2026, in Milwaukee. Adams is set to continue promoting his latest album, Roll With the Punches, with four shows in his native Ontario later in August 2026.
Benatar and Giraldo have upcoming August dates in Las Vegas and Rancho Mirage, California, followed by additional West Coast concerts, mostly in California, in early fall.
Bryan Adams Performed “51st State” as a Protest Song in Detroit
At the Detroit show, Adams also performed his single “51st State,” which he has described as “a love letter to Canada” and a protest against U.S. President Donald Trump’s remarks about annexing the country. The venue’s proximity to Windsor, Ontario, just across the Detroit River, made for a particularly receptive audience for the song.
Adams told Billboard earlier in August 2026 that he originally wrote the song for a documentary project and decided to release “51st State” on Canada Day, July 1.
