Foo Fighters Release Title Track From New Album

Foo Fighters have officially launched the next phase of their career with the release of the title track from their forthcoming twelfth studio album, Your Favorite Toy. The song arrives alongside confirmation that the album will be released on April 24, 2026, via Roswell Records and RCA Records.

The newly released track serves as the first official preview of the album and signals a return to the band’s harder edged, high energy sound. Built around driving guitars, a muscular rhythm section, and a sharp vocal performance from Dave Grohl, the song delivers a forceful introduction to the new record.

In a statement accompanying the release, Grohl said the song was pivotal to the album’s creative direction, explaining that it helped define the overall tone and momentum of the project after months of experimentation in the studio. According to Grohl, once the song came together, the rest of the album began to fall into place.

Your Favorite Toy follows 2023’s But Here We Are, an album shaped by grief after the death of longtime drummer Taylor Hawkins. While that record was widely praised for its emotional weight, the new album appears to pivot toward a more aggressive and direct sound, emphasizing volume, speed, and immediacy.

The album also marks the first Foo Fighters studio release featuring drummer Ilan Rubin, who officially joined the band after Josh Freese’s touring stint. Rubin’s presence is immediately noticeable on the title track, with tight, propulsive drumming that pushes the song forward without excess ornamentation.

Musically, the track leans into classic Foo Fighters hallmarks, including layered guitar riffs from Chris Shiflett and Pat Smear, a steady bass foundation from Nate Mendel, and subtle keyboard textures from Rami Jaffee. The production favors clarity and punch, allowing the song’s central riff and chorus to take center stage.

The album will include ten tracks, with the previously released song “Asking for a Friend” appearing as the closing cut. Recording sessions took place at the band’s 606 West studio in Los Angeles, with Foo Fighters handling production duties alongside longtime collaborators.

In addition to the album announcement, the band has hinted at extensive touring plans later this year, including a major North American run and additional international dates. Full tour details are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.

Early reaction to the title track has been swift, with fans praising its raw energy and straightforward approach. The release suggests Foo Fighters are leaning back into the sound that made them arena staples while still pushing forward creatively.
