Pearl Jam bassist Jeff Ament has announced a new photography book titled “Since Forever,” created with his brother, designer Barry Ament. The 9-inch by 12-inch hardcover volume features more than 250 black-and-white photographs, most of them taken between 1990 and 1998 during Pearl Jam’s formative and breakthrough years.

According to Ament, about 90 percent of the photos have never previously been made public. “Since Forever” is available for pre-order now via Pearl Jam’s official website and will be released in select independent bookstores on September 25, 2026.

  • The book measures 9 inches by 12 inches and contains more than 250 black-and-white photographs
  • Most images date from 1990 to 1998
  • Roughly 90 percent of the photos have never been seen before
  • Release date: September 25, 2026, at select independent bookstores and via pearljam.com

How the ‘Since Forever’ Project Came Together

Ament said the project began as an effort to save failing 30-year-old negatives, and that making a book was his brother Barry’s idea. “If there was a goal, it was mostly to save the failing 30-year-old negatives,” he said. “It was Barry’s idea to make a book.”

Ament described the collaboration as a way for the two brothers to spend time together, calling it “a job for Barry and me, a reason to hang out.” The book includes photographs taken backstage, in recording studios, and during travel between shows, accompanied by Ament’s personal reflections and observations.

Jeff and Barry Ament’s Book Events at Ohana Festival

Jeff and Barry Ament will discuss “Since Forever” on the Storytellers Stage at Pearl Jam’s Ohana Festival on September 25 and 27, with further book events in select cities to be announced in the coming weeks. The Ohana Festival runs September 25 through 27, 2026, with Pearl Jam headlining the final evening.

Other acts on the Ohana Festival bill include Eddie Vedder & Friends, Tyler Childers, Fontaines D.C., Alabama Shakes, Billy Idol, Rilo Kiley, Pixies, Bad Religion and Mana. The festival will also feature the debut of Pearl Jam’s new “mystery” drummer.

Jeff Ament’s Path to Pearl Jam

Ament co-founded Pearl Jam after previously playing with guitarist Stone Gossard in Green River and Mother Love Bone. Following the death of Mother Love Bone frontman Andrew Wood in 1990, Ament and Gossard worked with Mike McCready before recruiting Eddie Vedder to form Pearl Jam.

Ament was born in Havre, Montana, in 1963 and raised in Big Sandy. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with Pearl Jam in 2017 and has won two Grammy Awards for Best Recording Package for his visual art and design work.
